A shop worker whose hand was badly burnt in a hot fryer has received over £13,000 for the injuries she sustained.

The lady, a single mother, was injured when, unknown to her the scraper which she had been provided to clean the edge of the fish fryer had a screw missing from its plastic handle. As a result her hand slipped down into the fryer burning her thumb and hand.

Her hand was bandaged up for 5 months, during which time she was unable to return to work.
