Head of HR 

Osbornes Law is recruiting an experienced and proactive Head of HR to join our growing firm.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping and delivering the firm’s people strategy, supporting both our lawyers and business services teams.

THE ROLE

STRATEGIC / PROJECTS:

  • Lead and execute the People strategy ensuring it supports Osbornes’ strategic objectives.
  • Develop strategic People initiatives and take ownership of delivering projects around talent development, employee wellbeing, mental health support, benefits, and employee engagement.
  • Support in delivery of various strategic People projects as required by the business, in collaboration with Managing Partner.

PEOPLE OPERATIONS:

  • Ensure and manage administrative support across all operational People activity as required – ensuring smooth employee lifecycle processes, onboarding & offboarding process and employee engagement & wellbeing initiatives are delivered throughout the year.
  • Lead junior administrators in their development.
  • Development and implementation of company policies and procedures as required, in collaboration with the Managing Partner.
  • Maintain People records and compile reports and analyses as required e.g., salary analysis, gender pay gap, holiday reporting, award submission data and ad-hoc audits.
  • Manage all company benefits (e.g., Hertility, volunteering) with administration support from Operations Manager. Review and update as required.
  • Own internal comms and updates on People initiatives and policies.
  • Manage and run monthly payroll administration / work with payroll/internal accounts team.

EMPLOYEE RELATIONS:

  • Provide advice and coach managers in resolving employee relations issues of a straightforward to mid-level complexity, including but not limited to, performance management, disciplinary and grievances etc. Support Partners in managing more complex ER cases.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of employment law.
  • Consult and support employees where necessary, providing pastoral care as required.
  • Manage all flexible working, extended leave, and sabbatical requests.
  • Manage all maternity, paternity, adoption, and shared parental leave cases, ensuring a supportive and well communicated process is provided to all expectant parents, before and during their leave, and upon their return to work.
  • Run exit interviews, collate, and report quarterly feedback to the Managing Partner.
  • Assist in successful execution of the performance review process – being an advocate of the quarterly review and annual appraisal and promotion process.
  • Coach Managers on how to complete probation reviews and appraisals, deliver meaningful feedback, and inspiring development plans.

RECRUITMENT:

  • Lead Osbornes’ annual intake of trainee solicitors.
  • Manage job listings, including monitoring applications, presenting candidate information to hiring staff and setting up interviews.

TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT:

  • Create and manage consistent onboarding training across all teams for new joiners.
  • Develop and Deliver Line Manager training to build manager capability.
  • Research and organise bespoke training for specific employee groups and individuals.
  • Research training providers and gather feedback following each session to ensure we are continually evaluating our offering and employees are getting the best out of our training opportunities.
  • Support Managing Partner in developing an internal Mentorship scheme (with specific support around partnership track) – work with the Mentoring team to find suitable matches for mentoring requests, share training guides and have regular check-ins with mentors/mentees to make sure the sessions are happening regularly and are helpful.
  • Provide support to the Managing Partner in the development and implementation of the Partnership Track.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

  • Solid generalist HR experience.
  • CIPD qualified.
  • Proven experience of partnering / supporting senior leaders.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Ability to influence and build strong relationships at all levels.
  • High degree of integrity, discretion and professionalism.
  • Outstanding judgement and a trusted advisor.
  • An understanding or experience of professional services would be an advantage.

Newly Qualified Housing Solicitor 

We are recruiting for a full-time newly qualified solicitor (0-1 year PQE) with experience in housing law to join our expanding and award-winning Housing and Social Care team. Experience in community care and public law would also be desirable, but not essential.

The role will provide an exciting opportunity for the successful solicitor to handle a diverse caseload.

The successful candidate will be given responsibility over their caseload from the outset and are expected to have good knowledge of the law, current policies and legal aid. The successful candidate will also be supported by a close team of colleagues within an open plan office.

Salaries are highly competitive, and benefits include flexible working and significant opportunities for learning and personal development.

Personal Injury Paralegal – Polish speaking 

Osbornes’ Personal Injury department is one of the largest and most successful in London. We are ranked in both the Legal 500 and Chambers directories and undertake a wide range of work. We specialise in high value and complex claims with our solicitors being recognised as leaders in their field. There are 58 members of the department, based at the firm’s Camden office.

The firm is also ranked as a leading law firm in The Times Best Law Firm Guide and recognised as an ‘Outstanding’ place to work by Best Companies.

This role involves assisting 2 senior team members with their case work. There may also be the opportunity to work with some of the partners.

The successful applicant will have excellent academics, including legal qualifications, and will be fluent in Polish and English. Ideally, they will have experience of working as a paralegal. They will also require excellent IT skills.

This is a great opportunity to join our young and friendly team. We place a strong emphasis on continued development and training; many of our trainee solicitors began as Osbornes paralegals.

Property Litigation and Housing & Social Care Paralegal

Osbornes Law is recruiting for a paralegal to assist in its Property Litigation and its Housing, Social Care and Public Law department dealing with both private and legal aid caseloads comprising property litigation, public law and housing casework. Experience in any of these areas and legal aid generally is desirable.

Personal Injury Hungarian speaking Paralegal

We have a vacancy for a Hungarian speaking paralegal in our award winning PI department.
There are currently 48 members of the department, including eight partners, and we work out of the firm’s Camden office.

The successful applicant will be fluent in Hungarian and English, and have experience of assisting with case work, but not necessarily of running a case load. We require excellent communication skills, proficient IT skills and an ability to operate document and case management software.

We offer a competitive salary dependent on experience.

Property Litigation Solicitor 

Osbornes’ Property Litigation team is looking to recruit a solicitor between 5 -10 PQE to join its growing team based in the Camden and Hampstead offices. The ideal candidate will have the ability to generate new work assisting with business development and supporting the growth of the team.

You will be dealing with a range of disputes including:

  • Commercial and residential landlord and tenant disputes such as rent recovery, possession and forfeiture claims
  • Enforcement of easements/rights of way and restrictive covenants
  • Beneficial interest disputes
  • Party Wall disputes

Experience in construction disputes could be an advantage.

Candidates will also have the ability to work well in a team, show excellent initiative and ability to think on their feet. The firm offers supportive, friendly and open culture and working environment as well as flexible and hybrid working. There are excellent prospects for the right candidate.
