Settlement of £75,000 for cyclist

Nicola Hall, a specialist bicycle accident lawyer, obtained a settlement of £75,000 for a cyclist who was knocked off their bike by a car, before hitting the bonnet and windscreen of the moving car and landing on the road.

The cyclist had intended on going for a leisurely cycle in his local area. As he proceeded along a main road, a driver suddenly exited a Sainsburys supermarket and made a right hand turn across our client’s path. Both the Police and Ambulance attended the scene.

Our client was transported to hospital via air ambulance and he remained as a trauma patient for 10 days. As a result of the accident, the cyclist suffered multiple pelvic fractures, a pelvic haematoma requiring a 3 unit blood transfusion, a right shoulder injury as well as psychological injuries. He required care and assistance from both the local authority and family members upon discharge from hospital.

A number of the client’s possessions were damaged as a result of the accident. He further incurred travel and medical expenses as well as aids and equipment for his property.

Liability was admitted by the driver, with no deduction for contributory negligence and Nicola was able to negotiate a successful settlement for the cyclist.
