Camden Town is bursting with colourful people, markets, shops, restaurants, bars, pubs, clubs, theatres and cinemas. Camden attracts visitors every day from Londoners themselves and those travelling from much further afield.

Camden Lock Market, established in 1974 was the original craft market but now has a much wider spectrum of goods on sale. Both this and the ever-popular Camden Stables Market, Camden (Buck Street) Market and Inverness Street are all open every day and their shopping experience has made shopping in Camden a unique and buzzing experience.

The market scene comes fully to life during the weekend with all stalls and shops at the markets fully trading and the lively Camden Canal Market opening Friday to Sunday.

Camden Local Authorities:

Camden is represented by Camden Council. The council is responsible for all council services and duties, which include social services, housing, education and planning.

For more information about council services please visit Camden Local Authority: http://www.camden.gov.uk

Camden Council Tax Rate Bands:

To view your council tax band please visit the Camden council website.

How much will I have to pay?

Each year, every local authority will set a rate of council tax for each valuation band. The amount you have to pay depends on the value of your property and the current rates for your local council. Not everyone will have to pay the full amount of council tax. There are three ways in which your council tax bill may be reduced.

Reductions in council tax:
– the reduction scheme for disabled people
– discounts (i.e. If only one person lives in a property they will get a 25% discount on the council tax bill)
– council tax benefit and second adult rebate

To learn more about council tax please visit the HM Revenue & Customs website
