Multi-Million Settlement After Motorbike Accident

£5m settlement for injured motorcyclist

Our lawyers achieved a £5m settlement for a 54-year-old man following a motorbike accident. As a result of the accident, our client sustained a serious injury that required below-knee amputation and a damaged brachial plexus. Brachial plexus injuries are common in motorcycle accidents due to a combination of speed and the fact that riders often attempt to hold on to the motorbike handlebars when accidents occur.

The settlement included provision for loss of earnings as well as a loss of chance claim relating to the client’s career within the telecoms sector, prosthetics (including an Empower limb), his future care needs and necessary adaptations to accommodation.

The settlement was achieved at a Joint Settlement Meeting (JSM). A JSM is a meeting between parties aimed at settling a compensation dispute. These are face-to-face discussions where settlement offers can be made “without prejudice” (off the court record).
