Osbornes Law secured £57,500 in compensation for a man who was seriously injured while walking his dog along a public street.
Our personal injury solicitors, acted for Mr E, a pensioner who was injured when an unsecured metal street works sign was lifted by a gust of wind and struck him in the face, knocking him to the ground.
As a result of the accident, Mr E sustained multiple injuries including a shoulder injury which left him with permanent ongoing symptoms, an injury to his hip, a minor head injury causing concussion, and multiple facial lacerations that resulted in visible scarring. He also lost several teeth. A dental expert concluded that the accident had accelerated the loss of these teeth, which would otherwise have occurred at a later stage.
Before the accident, Mr E had been independent and socially active. Following the incident, he experienced a significant loss of confidence and went on to suffer a major episode of depression as a direct consequence of his injuries and their impact on his daily life.
Medical experts recommended a programme of specialist pain management treatment to support his physical and psychological recovery. The cost of this treatment, together with compensation for his injuries and their long-term effects, was reflected in the final settlement.
The claim settled successfully for £57,500, providing Mr E with financial security and access to the treatment he needed to aid his recovery.
