A student who was knocked down by a car on her way to university received £147,000 in compensation for her serious injuries.

The car which pulled out in her path hit her, causing her to suffer a fractured spine. This resulted in her having to undergo surgery to fuse the spine at the point of the fracture.

At the time of the accident, the student was a keen sportswoman and was studying to become a PE teacher. The accident has forced her to give up her studies and career plans.

The compensation reflects both her past and future losses caused by the accident.
