Av. asociat Laura Swaine din cadrul firmei Osbornes Law a obținut o despăgubire de 6 cifre pentru o reclamantă care a fost aruncată de pe bicicletă. Reclamanta era medic stagiar la NHS și se deplasa cu bicicleta de la serviciu către casă, în timpul pandemiei Covid-19.
Reclamanta mergea cu bicicleta pe drumul principal, când pârâtul a ieșit de pe o stradă laterală, ciocnindu-se de reclamantă și doborând-o la pământ. Reclamanta a suferit o fractură gravă la genunchi, precum și o fractură la nas și multiple leziuni la nivelul feței.
Ca urmare a accidentului, reclamanta a lipsit de la serviciu pentru o perioadă lungă de timp, ceea ce a dus la amânarea calificării sale ca medic. Din cauza pandemiei Covid-19, reclamanta nu a putut să înceapă recuperarea prin NHS mai devreme. Av. După primirea dovezilor medicale, a fost clar că reclamanta va necesita în viitor mai multe intervenții chirurgicale la genunchi, inclusiv posibilitatea instalării a două proteze de genunchi. După pandemia Covid-19, reclamanta s-a întors în țara sa de origine și a fost necesar să își reevalueze câștigurile viitoare cât și viitoarea ei carieră pentru a putea determina pierderile sale totale.
