Edward Taylor, solicitor, in Osbornes Law housing and social care department has been invited to speak at a conference tailored specifically to social workers. The ‘Surviving to Thriving Conference’ provides an opportunity for professionals working with young people to engage on current issues and develop greater understanding of how holistically focused practice can help young people to overcome challenges and thrive.
Edward acts for unaccompanied asylum seeking minors whose age is disputed by the Home Office and/or Social Services. He is recognised as a leading practitioner in this area. He will be running a Workshop on Age Assessments with Helen Johnson, Head of Children’s Services at the Refugee Council, Jacinta Kane, Children’s Services Team Manager at Harrow’s Children’s Services.
The day’s event also includes presentation on the asylum process and mental health needs of separated children.
The conference has come together through support from the People’s Postcode Lottery, the British Red Cross, the Refugee Council and UpRising. Their efforts have directly supported over 580 children and young people and delivered training to over 600 professionals. The conference takes place on Tuesday 4 June 2019.
