On BBC Newsnight, last night (5 April) reporters revealed young asylum seekers are being incorrectly classified by the Home office as adults when they are children.
When they arrive in the UK they are being wrongly assessed and as a consequence not receiving the necessary protections for young people.
Helen Johnson, Head of the Refugee Council’s Children’s Services and Edward Taylor, Solicitor at Osbornes Law were interviewed and spoke of their ongoing concerns regarding incorrect assessments.
Edward Taylor commented on his disbelief as he meets his clients for the first time “They are quite clearly children – young people who are very vulnerable and require protection”
