A young boy who was hit by a car at a pedestrian crossing has been awarded £14,000 in compensation.

Liam Bricknell, who was just 3 years old at the time of the accident was hit by a vehicle along with his mother. The road traffic accident took lace after a disqualified and uninsured driver failed to stop at a red light. The car was later found abandoned.

Liam suffered bruises and cuts all over his body along with a six inch gash to the back of his head which caused him painful headaches for the six months following the accident.

Although the driver of the car was uninsured, it was possible to claim compensation from the Motors Insurers Bureau (MIB). The bureau was established to compensate the victims of negligent uninsured and untraced motorists. Every insurer underwriting compulsory motor insurance, under the Road Traffic Act 1988, is obliged to a member of the MIB and to contribute to the bureaus funding.
