Pedestrian sustains serious head injury after car mounts pavement

An elderly pedestrian who was struck by a car after it mounted the pavement and collided with her at speed. The lady was thrown into the air landing on the pavement hitting her head. 

During the months following the accident the lady suffered confusion and short term memory loss. It soon became clear that she had sustained a brain injury which had accelerated the onset of dementia. The acceleration of this condition was so fast that the lady lost her capacity to manage her own affairs and therefore had to enter a nursing home.
