Lawyers Scale Yorkshire’s Highest Peaks for Cot Death Charity

News article published on: 18th June 2010

A group of 19 lawyers from Osbornes solicitors in Camden are embarking on a gruelling challenge on 5 June 2010 in aid of the cot death charity, The Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths (FSID).

Participants from across the firm will be swapping the comforts of the office for the wild landscape of the Yorkshire Dales. The challenge involves scaling the three highest peaks in Yorkshire, Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough on a route which is almost 25 miles in length and involves climbing 4000 feet… and it has to be completed in 12 hours.

The aim behind the event is to raise as much money as possible for FSID and raise awareness of the work which the charity does. FSID is a unique charity which funds research into the cause of unexpected deaths in babies and toddlers. Tragically, every week an average of 10 babies die unexpectedly in the UK. FSID funds research, provides much needed support to those families who have been bereaved and provides information for all new parents.

Our walk will also be a personal tribute to Lula Mae Osborn, daughter of Guy and Rebbeca Osborn who died unexpectedly when she was a year old. Guy is taking part in the challenge and we fully expect him to be forging ahead on the walk, especially after his recent training!

We are hoping that people reading this will be inspired to support us in our aim to raise £3000 for charity. If you would like to donate please go the Osbornes: Yorkshire Three Peaks Justgiving page athttp://www.justgiving.com/OsbornesChallenge.
