The Law Society is launching a will-writing and probate accreditation scheme, similar to its Conveyancing Quality scheme.
The announcement, by the Society’s director of Legal Policy Mark Stobbs stressed that the Law Society recognises that with new entrants to the legal market the Law Society should support members by providing such schemes.
The Conveyancing Quality kitemark, which the property department at Osbornes solicitors were accredited for in July 2011 is awared to firms who demonstrate specialist skills, quality assurance and service standards to clients.
Jan Atkinson, head of the Wills, Probate & Disputed Estates department at Osbornes comments:
“This new accreditation scheme is very welcomed news for solicitors. There are various routes to getting a will written, including the DIY method and completing one online. However there is no substitute to contacting a solicitor to draft your will. This new kitemark will proide clients with reassurance at what can be an incredibly stressful time, especially when dealing with probate and estate administration. It is certainly a kitemark Osborne solicitors will look to achieving”.
