The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) Caribbean Conference Steering Committee has invited Jan Atkinson to speak at the 2013 Conference to be hosted by STEP Nevis at the Marriott Resort, Frigate Bay St. Kitts from the 6 to 8th May 2013.
Jan will be speaking on Wednesday 8th May on the topic ‘Domicile vs. Residence Cross Border Issues’ (wills and probate). Jan will be answering the following questions:
Can a testator have more than one will for different jurisdictions?
What impact would the laws of the country of domicile of the testator have on a will created by that testator in another jurisdiction for property located in the other jurisdiction?
Jan, who is head of the Private Client department at Osbornes, specifically specialising in international estates and probate disputes, comments:
“Being invited to speak at this year’s STEP conference is very exciting and is quite an honour to be speaking alongside fellow leading professionals in the estates and trusts world”.
STEP is the leading worldwide professional body for practitioners in the fields of trusts, estates and related issues. Members help families plan their long term financial future and comply with the often complex tax rules surrounding trusts, estates and inheritance.
Jan is also on the committee organising the Law Society Private Client Section Annual Conference, ‘Aiming for Excellence’, to be held at the Victoria Plaza Hotel in London on 5 July 2013.
