Settlement reached as former teacher pays child abuse victim compensation 29 Mar 2015

Stephanie Prior has recently settled another historic child abuse case.  Her client was sexually abused from the age of 9- 15 years of age.

The perpetrator of the abuse was a local school teacher and family friend who eventually pleaded guilty before the criminal court to seven offences of indecent assault on boys under 16 years of age contrary to section 15 of The Sexual Offences Act 1956.

The first offences were against another boy, a pupil at the junior school where the perpetrator was a master and the second offences related to six offences in respect of her client between February 1988 – February 1994.

At the time of the abuse inflicted on her client, the perpetrator was in his 50’s.

The perpetrator was sentenced to prison and was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.

Stephanie’s client was awarded a five figure sum without the need for proceedings to be issued or a medical report to be obtained.  The case was concluded just over a year after the client first made contact with Stephanie.
