New road accident statistics announced

Figures released by transport for London indicate that our roads are getting safe for a lot of people – apart from cyclists.

People killed or seriously injured on Britain’s roads are up by two per cent to 6,630 in the third quarter of 2011. In the same quarter all casualties on the road were down by 5% from the same period last year to 52,499.

With regards to cyclists, the data shows that cyclists’ deaths have gone up to 970 killed or seriously injured in the three months to September 2011 – this is compared to 905 the previous year.
